One week down, many more to go

This week was truly exciting as we learned about the workings of a solar car.  What was most interesting was how the solar car's engine uses VC so that it can receive more power.  We also learned that the bar is where energy is drawn from, not the batteries directly.  We also learned that regenerative braking puts energy back into the bar by reversing the flow of electricity.

This week also saw some progress on SK2.  We were able to put on the two front wheels and hopefully we can put on the back wheel early next week.

A Solar is Born

Today is the official start of our solar energy class.  This week we will learn about all the functions and practical uses of solar energy and how it will play a part in
future technology.  This week we will . . .

A) Learn about the basics of how a solar car works,

B) Learn about how solar energy works,

C) Begin construction of SK2
Jack demonstrates how the electrical wiring in the solar car can
become a problem if done improperly.

Dylan explains how the batteries are charged by the solar cells and how that energy goes through a charge controller before it is used to power the engine.
